Roadside Attractions: Goats on the Bay

08 Aug

They’re baa-ck! The city has brought back the goats to clear the brush along the Palo Alto Baylands. I was sooo tempted to pet this guy, but I didn’t want to be the idiot at Urgent Care having to explain how I got bit. He was bleating and prancing around as I rolled down the Bay Trail. When I stopped he kept pushing through the fence to get closer to me. I’ve never seen one so friendly before.

Meanwhile, the rest of the herd stayed focused on the task at hand.

I love the fact that they’re using a natural method to control the undergrowth vs. loud, exhaust spewing machinery.

Is it just me, or are goats really really cute?

I had heard that goats can be very affectionate like dogs, but I’d never seen it before. Maybe we should go goat packing in the Sierras. It would be much easier than carrying everything ourselves and more fun than horses. http://earthdancers.com/goats.htm
