Fashion Friday: It’s a Wrap

12 Aug

“Feel like a woman, wear a dress!” said Diane von Furstenberg, whose iconic 70′s wrap dress works just as well 40 years later, on Juliett.

More quotes from an interview with Diane von Furstenberg:

“The wrap dress made women feel what they wanted to feel like… free and sexy… It also fitted in with the sexual revolution: a woman who chose to could be out of it in less than a minute!”

“It’s more than just a dress; it’s a spirit. The wrap dress was an interesting cultural phenomenon, and one that has lasted 30 [40] years.”

“What is so special about it is that it’s actually a very traditional form of clothing. Its like a toga, it’s like a kimono, without buttons, without a zipper. What made my wrap dresses different is that they were made out of jersey and they sculpted the body.”

Funny, I just took a friend/client shopping…..for dresses. She felt unattractive and wore jeans and t-shirts all the time. We picked up three beautiful dresses for her and she LOVES wearing them!

Dresses cover a lot more flaws than jeans and t-shirts. I don’t really know why women stopped wearing them so much. Maybe it’s because you have to sit like a lady.

I live in dresses – maybe it’s because I have a lot of flaws to cover.

    As always, great post, Janet!

Dresses and heels hide the fact that I have really short legs. How many 5’6″ tall women do you know that have 29″ inseams?

Kat, these shoes are my most comfortable ones on the bike. Real leather soles, no platform and the straps across the instep make it work.
