Fashion Friday: A Bolder Blazer in Bouclé

01 Mar

The nubby weave of bouclé fabric elevates a classic double-breasted blazer to another dimension. Coco Chanel may have made bouclé famous with her timeless suits, but it’s the slim-cut jeans, swing top and stacked heel booties that make my cropped jacket perfect for a casual dinner out with the girls.

About Fashion Friday: Inspired by a 2011 Bike to Work Day challenge sponsored by the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, this series highlights the broad range of “dress for the destination” bicycling fashions.

What a wonderful jacket! I cannot wait for the nice warm weather here to wear jackets again…

The jacket is very well-made too. I really should have posted a photo with the lining

BTW, I visited your site and love the D2N tops. That design works particularly well with my curvy figure.

My four sisters and I all learned to sew from my mother growing up. I don’t do it much, but the knowledge of clothing construction is invaluable. It also means that I know all kinds of fabric and clothing design names that I wouldn’t otherwise.

My sister Lucy does the most sewing and teaches fabric arts, particularly doll making. You may enjoy her site at http://playfulstitching.wordpress.com. Another sewing site I love is http://tinlizzieridesagain.wordpress.com She integrates reflective trims in her clothing for nighttime visibility on the bike.
